Homeschool Resources

Testing & Assessment
Taylion Homeschool is a TK-12th grade public charter school; therefore, our students participate in the following state standardized tests:
- The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress/Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (CAASPP) is given to students in grades 3-8th and 11th.
- The California Standards Test for Science (CAST) is administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and one time in high school (grades 10-12).
- The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is for students in grades 5th, 7th, and 9th.
- The English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) test is the required state test for English language proficiency (ELP) that must be given to students whose primary language is a language other than English.
- The California Alternative Assessment (CAA) will be administered by the Special Education team for those students with severe learning disabilities.
- The Edmentum diagnostic assessments are given in reading, math, and language arts three times per school year (once during the fall, winter, and spring) as a diagnostic, formative, and summative tool for our families and teachers. This shows true academic growth of the student throughout the school year.

School Tracks
Our TK–12 homeschool program offers flexible tracks so students can progress at their own pace while meeting state standards. Families can choose online, in-person, or blended learning options depending on the student’s goals and learning preferences.

Adventure Network – Community Group (GroupApp)
The Taylion Adventure Network is our community space within GroupApp where homeschool families, staff, and Education Specialists connect, share ideas, and support one another. This group serves as a virtual basecamp for conversation, collaboration, and encouragement throughout your homeschool journey.
Families can participate in discussions, connect with others in their county, stay informed about events and field trips, and receive updates and resources from their Education Specialist. Whether you actively engage or prefer to observe and stay informed, this community is designed to support families at every stage of their Taylion homeschool adventure.

Our Homeschool Lead
Our Homeschool Lead, Ryan Woodard, serves as the primary point of contact for homeschool families and helps coordinate support across all areas of homeschooling. While he handles questions related to enrollment, compliance, curriculum guidance, and ongoing support, families may also be directed to trusted external resources when additional tools or information are helpful. These resources are intended to support families alongside guidance provided by the school.
